Fly Me to the Moon by @MrY on SuperRare

I wanted to do something a little different for this week's blog. I have been trying to find balance in my work, life, art, and mental health, as we all do. So this week, I listened to my instincts and did something a bit more relaxing. Few things are as restorative as looking at art and listening to music with creative, compatible artist-friends. So, I invited the simply clever @Tomperrichon to go travelling with me.

JL: You want to talk about some art and music for my blog?

Tom: Damn. It's a big yes!

JL: I thought it could be fun if we both used the same prompt to gather art, I could find visuals, and you could discover audios, and we can chat a bit about our selections.

Tom: What sort of prompt?

JL: I was thinking something like 'To the Moon.'

Tom: Yeah! Sounds great, a musical journey to the Moon with JL. I love the idea. I'm a big music fan, so I am glad you asked me. Do you have any pieces so I can start to feel the music?

JL: How about this one to start?

Tom: This image led me to this song. I like how it makes space feels empty but also meaningful. Full of sense.

@katuchatmusic

JL: I like imagining my senses in space. The deafening quiet, the vast loneliness and the lack of touch, but I think the literal experience of space will always have to remain in my imagination. My feet feel firmly planted here on Earth.

Tom: Are these from the same artist?

JL: No, the one on the left is from the Alpine Shades collection by Fem Dom, AKA @wildalps. The one on the right is City of Blood Moons, by Hiroki Matsubara AKA @mpmb7.

Tom: I like them. Both artists are on the other side of the planet and thought about similar compositions and themes but vastly different landscapes.

JL: That's the power of the moon, worldwide inspiration.

Tom: Exactly.

JL: Oh my! Now PORTAL 5 is a different kind of moon. This sold 73.6ETH current value $214,491.01.

And at 7ETH, this moon by the same artists @shvembldr seems like a bargain by comparison.

Tom: ‘To the Moon’ is a really good caption for these two, one part for the visual aspect and second part for the financial aspect.

JL: Are you going to the moon, Tom?

Tom: I would like to.

Ghostly

JL: Why did you select Helios?

Tom: I imagine a landscape, like I'm in a starship, with a view of the Earth. The sun is waking up. Good morning. My journey to the Moon is slow, serene, sure and relaxing.

JL: How do you find your music?

Tom: I spend MANY hours searching for music while I work, using recommendations or with tags.

JL: Do you always listen on SoundCloud?

Tom: Often, yes. I found SoundCloud a few years ago when I was looking for a place to upload my own compositions. Ever since then it’s become a regular habit. There are so many unique, underground musicians there and that diversity constantly inspires my own evolution. How do you find your images?

JL: I dive through shill channels on discord, ask for inspiration on Twitter, and use the search function on the many NFT platforms. Mostly, like you, I am always curating, filing art constantly as it finds me. For example, this has been on my radar for a long time, just waiting for the right moment.

JL: I like how the artist ties the Moon to femininity and tides.

Tom: I like it too.

James Maloney

JL: And for my final selection, Soul Plantation by @my_soulwax on Foundation.

Tom: Wooow. Even the flowers look like moons! So beautiful.

JL: I love it. It's like the Moon can be anything and it might even be closer than we think.

Tom: Let's go!
